Narcissus and Echo

There was once a handsome young man named Narcissus. He turned down people left and right. One day while walking through the forest a nymph named Echo saw him. She couldn't say anything to him for she had been cursed and could only repeat the last thing someone said. She tried to embrace him but he told her to get lost and left her heart broken. She spent her life heart broken until only her voice remained. Another admirer of Narcissus was a man named Ameinius. He was always trying to get his attention. The conceited Narcissus sent him a sword telling him to prove his adoration. Ameinius plunged the dagger into his heart committing suicide to prove his love. He begged the gods to punish Narcissus and the god Artemis heard the plea. She made Narcissus fall in love with himself. So when he saw his reflection in the water he was depressed he could not hold his own reflection. He ended up plunging a dagger into his heart, calling out a last goodbye to his reflection.

The Day I met Madeleine

I was walking across the street and saw a girl eating a spider. It was so gross I wanted to look away, but I couldn't. Ew! was all I could think as I watched her quietly eat the spider. She held it lightly between her fingers. She looked up and smiled at me. It was strange for I had never seen something like this before. She held the spider above the ground and slowly put it in her mouth. She ate the spider like it was a little chicken nugget. I will never forget that nasty day.

Scariest thing ever

The scariest thing that has ever happened to me was when I was almost picked up by someone on the side of the ride. I was walking back from a friend's house when this white car passed me. I walked on and was almost to my house when I saw the car waiting close to my house. I thought I heard the driver say "I'm going to try and pick up this chick really quick." I wasn't sure but, continued to walk home. I was walking past the car when he started asking me questions. He asked me if he could give me a ride repeatedly and how old I was. I told him no I don't want a ride repeatedly and that my age was none of his business. I half walked, half ran up my driveway and seconds later my parents came up the driveway. I told them what happened and that the car was still there. My mom called the sheriff, and as soon as my brother went to look at the car the man started to drive away. I was so scared I couldn't stop crying. I was relieved that nothing had happened to me, but scared that something could have.

Review -

I liked that Hannah bakes cookies because I love to bake as well. I didn't like that she has to go on a diet because everyone gets to eat food she can't have. I think that people who like mystery, suspense, and romance would like this book. I think you should read read it because it has romance in it.

My Story

Kim woke up in a new city,on a different street, and what seemed to be a dangerous neighborhood.  She couldn't remember how she had gotten to this strange place.  All kim could recall was getting hit on the head and then everything went black.  She knew that she had to move fast because whatever had shot holes in the windows of the houses, she didnt want putting holes in her too.  Kim started walking down the street then burst into a run as her fear rose.  After a few minutes she found herself at a crossroads and wasn't sure where to turn.  When she was about to just wing it and go right, a jeep rode up and stopped beside her.  "Do you need a ride missy?"said the man in the car.  Kim gazed through the window and saw that the man was old and appeared to be a mechanic from the oil stains that where on his clothes and in his hair.  She was so lost, tired, and scared that she said yes to the ride throwing caution to the wind.  They said nothing as the minutes drew by and fine houses started to appear.  "Where you from?"he asked,"You dont seem like you from that place back there."  The old man pointed backwards at the image of the buildings now shrinking into the distance.  Kim hesitated for a moment and then decided it wouldn't hurt to answer the mans question.  "I'm from beverly hills,"she answered.  "No wonder your dressed so fancy," the man said and smiled.  She didn't know what the man considered fancy.  For all she wore was a now crumpled denim skirt,an old leather jacket, salmon pink top, and black flip flops.  They stopped infront of a hotel and the man turned to her.  "I have to let you off here,"he said," I have to get back to my shop and I heard they have nice rooms here so I thinks its a good place for you to stay so you can get some rest, you look tired."  Kim stepped out of the car slowly, closed the door behind her,  and was beginning to walk up the steps to the hotel when she heard a voice.  "In case you ever need help or another ride give me a call."  Kim turned around realizing it was the old man.  She walked back and grabbed the card the man held out the window.  "Bye now,"he said and drove off.

Puppy Mills

I consider puppy mills to be absolutely horrible.  They have overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of human socialization, overcrowded cages and the killing of unwanted animals.  How can we let things like this go on?  Puppy mills have been around since World War Two.  Petland pet stores all around the United States were found buying from puppy mills.  I hope you will take this information to heart and work with thousands of others to permanetly put a stop to puppy mills.

My personal story

 When He Came Marching Home
                        By Cheryl Lynne Brost
It started out as just another boring day. I awoke to my sister snoring.  I had to wake her up because we had to hurry and meet my mom at the train station where she worked.  We took the bus downtown and as we got off my sister was chatting nonstop about how much she missed our brother Tony.  About 11 months before, my brother and his division were sent to Iraq.  I miss him terribly, and only the people who have had this happen to them can understand.  The wondering, the long nights, and waking up and wondering if your going to get that call.  I comforted my sister and told her everything was going to be okay, even though I didn't quite believe it myself.
When my mom saw us enter the station she yelled to us.  "We have to leave. Tony is coming home!" she exclaimed.  My sister and I burst into joy. We couldn't enjoy that feeling for long because we had to hurry.  There was going to be a party in Colorado Springs and we were the last family to be told,so we were running very late.  It was going to be a five hour drive and we were worried we would not make it in time. It started to rain heavily.  I asked my mom if we should turn back because it was raining so hard. She said, "I'm going to see my boy if we have to go through a snow storm."  We finally arrived in Colorado Springs, and then we had to find the place where the party was.  After about ten minutes we located the building. Only to discover we had missed the party.  I started to worry because I thought this meant we wouldn't get to see Tony.  The officer who told us we missed the party said we could see Tony at the barracks.  The worry left my face and was replaced with relief. The officer told us to follow his car to the barracks.  We got in the car and were following behind when I saw him.  Walking on the side of the road was a man in uniform. I couldn't tell who it was at first then I realized who I was looking at.  "Mom stop the car it's Tony!!" I exclaimed.  We stopped immediately  and ran out of the car.  We all ran to hug him, almost knocking him over. Just like that, all those worries about him not coming home seemed like they weren't even worth worrying about. Now that he was back where he belonged. We were finally complete.

camp2

Camp was great I appreciate all the work the teachers did. Everybody was helping each other, I had a lot of fun.

Camp

The most important thing I appreciated at camp was Sarah. When I lost my voice she made sure I was apart of the skit.  Also she listened to  my ideas and was basically my translator to our group and to everyone.  I really appreciate Sarah and her helping me.  I hope we become great friends. :)

Where I live

I live in California.  It is a great place to live.   The people are friendly.  The scenery around here is beautiful.  Also the schools and teachers are fantastic.   If you are changing schools I couldn't think of a better place to go than California.
